Pumice Wholesale

Western States Quarries
Due to its porous nature, lightweight and hardness, pumice is highly desirable in the horticulture industry. Pumice is present in landscaping, fertilizer, soil mixtures and seed coating. It’s commonly used as a drainage rock and soil conditioner in plantings. Material is typically shipped in supersacks though smaller units are available.
Pumice is chemically inert with a high silica content and a neutral pumice is an ideal natural lightweight soil amendment. With millions of interconnecting spherical voids that help aerate soil, pumice can absorb and retain a high capacity of water before releasing it back into vegetation and the surrounding environment slowly.

Perlite and pumice are both volcanic rocks used to improve soil aeration and drainage for plants, but they differ in several ways.
Pumice is generally preferred for its durability, stability, and ability to improve soil texture for years, while perlite is lighter, more affordable, and can be used in seed-starting and rooting cuttings. Also popular with Bonsai enthusiasts. Our pumice available 1/8", 3/8" and 5/16" sizes.
