Black Mexican Beach Pebbles

Black Mexican Beach Pebbles are hand harvested from the beaches of Baja California, not quarried and not tumbled in a machine. The smooth round profile is the work of surf, and it is why these stones look the way they do.

There are two distinct stones sold under this name. San Quintin pebbles, gathered on the Pacific coast a couple of hours south of Ensenada, run flatter and more oblong. La Paz material is fatter and rounder, closer to a cobble. Both are sorted by hand into sizes from 1/4 inch, called Criva, up through 12 inches. Black pebbles are the most requested of the four color groups, and the wet black of these stones after rain is the reason. Best pricing comes on the 3,000 pound units the stone arrives in; also available in 2,000 pound units and 75 and 50 pound bags.
