Typical Project Sizes
Black colored mulch is recycled fir wood chip colored with natural, non toxic colorants. The black is the most dramatic of the colored mulches and the most effective at making foliage and flower color read against it.
The colorant is the point of difference. Green waste mulch shifts color constantly with moisture, light and temperature, so a bed looks different week to week. A properly colored mulch holds its tone across the whole season. Alongside the appearance it does the ordinary mulch work: retaining soil moisture, suppressing weeds and insulating roots against heat.
