What Masons Know

Set block on a level footing. A compacted, level base under the first course keeps the whole wall straight. Take your time getting the bottom row right and the rest follows.
Reinforce tall walls with rebar and grout. Anything above a couple of courses should have vertical rebar set in the cores and filled with grout to tie the wall together and hold against pressure from the soil behind it.
Breeze block makes airy screen walls. The open pattern gives privacy while still letting light and air through. Use it where a solid wall would feel heavy or block a breeze.
Activate polymeric sand with a light mist. Sweep it into paver joints, then water gently so it sets without washing out. A heavy spray floats the sand out of the joints, so keep it light.
Order barriers by the piece with delivery. K-rail, Jersey barriers, and bunker block are heavy and need equipment to set. Order the count you need and have our team deliver and place them.
Mix cement in small batches. Cement starts curing as soon as it is wet, so mix only what you can place before it stiffens. Smaller batches keep the work clean and the footing strong.

It depends on the block size and style. Decorative CMU and wall block ship by the pallet with the piece count noted on each product. Breeze block is an open-pattern concrete block used to build screen walls and patio dividers. It gives privacy while still letting light and air pass through, and the pattern casts shifting shadows through the day. It is a classic mid-century look that pairs well with pavers and modern hardscapes.

How are concrete barriers delivered?

K-rail, Jersey barriers, and bunker block are ordered by the piece and delivered by truck with the equipment to set them in place. They are too heavy to move by hand, so plan for delivery and placement together. Tell us how many you need and where they go and we'll handle the logistics.

What is polymeric sand for?

Polymeric sand fills the joints between pavers and stone, then hardens when you mist it with water. It locks the pavers in place, resists weeds, and holds up against rain so a patio or walkway stays tight. It is the finishing step on most paver installs.
