Apache Brown D.G. 3/8"
Minus and Screened Grades Available
Apache Brown Gravel, Rock & Boulders are full of Rich shades of medium and light brown give this stone has a contemporary Southwestern feel to is and will make a good contrasting ground cover for a garden or landscape.
The 3/8" and 1/4" sizes are most called "decomposed granite" in the landscaping industry. While the material is certainly very attractive when used in gardens and landscapes it is not a true Decomposed Granite. It is a Crushed Stone Fine that is the result of making the high quality larger sized gravels.

We sell this product in smaller amounts by the ton, square yard amounts. Full truck and trailer loads of 25 tons total are the most cost effective and when properly applied at least 2-1/2 inches get used up quickly.
You can also order this material in 12.5 ton unit with a larger size of material in 12.5 ton unit to give contrasting scale and depth to your finished landscape. For instance you may wish to use the 1/4" or 3/8" size for an attractive outdoor patio surface or walkway but want the ruggedness and contrasting look of gravel, rip rap or rock used a ground cover in the landscape.

Decomposed Granite and Crushed Stone Fines are not the same materials. Decomposed granite has a natural coarse look to it with irregular round quartz pebbles. Crushed stone products tend to be more flat and have a higher amount of fine material. Crushed stone products, granite, sandstone, limestone and others offer a greater array of natural colors to work with than most true decomposed granite materials.

Decomposed Granite Per Ton

As a general rule of 3/8" or 1/4" of crushed stone or decomposed granite material will cover a little over 100 square feet of an ground area at a 2-1/2" depth.
Decomposed Granite Per Yard
As a general rule 1 cubic yard of 3/8" or 1/4" of crushed stone or decomposed granite material will cover 125 square feet in a 2-1/2" inch layer. A cubic yard of moist crushed stone fines or decomposed granite material weighs more or less 3,000 pounds.

A proper DG surface does not move underfoot like sand or gravel, but its porosity allows water to penetrate to the soil below. That aspect makes DG or crushed stone fines a good paving material around trees and shrubs.
The standard application process is to spread about 2" of DG or crushed stone fines, water it thoroughly then compact it with a water filled sod roller, hand tamper or use a vibra plate it to settle. Then repeat the process with at least another 1" to 2" layer for extra depth for stability.
